About me

As well as working as a counsellor in private practice and briefly teaching counselling skills at level 3, I have worked in the public and voluntary sectors with vulnerable young people and their families.

I have run a number of voluntary sector organisations and I worked directly with people who are homeless, people suffering addiction issues and people coping with past trauma and abuse.

Alongside all of that I have spent many years working in the private sector as a consultant and trainer in psychometrics and workplace psychology.

"Rob was amazing, from the moment I sat down with him I felt very comfortable and at ease. He was very easy to talk to, always knew how to respond in the correct manner and most importantly it has changed my life and mindset for the better. He helped me to understand my fears, trauma and actions, and how to cope with them using useful practices in my day to day life. I would 100% recommend his service. Darren, 29.

"I came to see Rob after losing both my parents and my brother within the space of two years . His calm and accepting presence allowed me to process my emotions at my own pace, and gave me the strength to move forward. There were times when things felt very dark and when I felt very alone but Rob always seemed to be tuned in to what was happening with me. Over the past few months, I have grown to feel a sense of peace and acceptance that I didn't think I ever would again. Thank you." Laura, 46.

What I offer

Formally speaking, my approach would be described as existentialintegrative and person centred. In practice that means that my focus is on my client and their unique life experience, while also being aware of the struggles that are common to us all. I don’t have all the answers, but work in partnership with my client to find them, using techniques and ideas from anywhere that’s useful, including Transactional Analysis, Mindfulness Mediation and Gestalt Therapy.

I offer a safe, supportive and confidential environment for individuals and also a small number of couples seeking help and guidance. Through a personalised and person centred approach, I work with clients to help them address their challenges and emotions, and to empower them to navigate through difficult times, to a better place.

"I can't thank you enough for the positive impact you've had on my life. Your empathy and expertise made me feel understood and supported throughout my journey of self discovery. I realised that I always knew what I wanted and where I needed to go. I just needed to say it out loud, to someone who would listen to me and not judge me. Thank you for being that person Rob." Charlotte, 28.
