About me

I’m a qualified pluralistic counsellor which means I tailor therapy to suit you as an individual. Whilst my work is grounded in a person centred approach, I recognise that different therapeutic approaches can be helpful at different times. Together we can explore what you need from therapy, at a pace that feels comfortable for you and adapt our work in a way that feels most supportive.

At the heart of my practise is the belief that you are the expert in your own life. I understand that reaching out for support can feel like a big step and my aim is to offer empathy and understanding in a non judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences.

I have a particular specialism in working with grief and loss and I understand that everyone’s experience of grief is unique.

I am also a wellbeing coach and use a mind body approach to support recovery from a wide range of health issues including chronic pain, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue.

" Michelle brings a unique skillset which is useful when life isn’t compartmentalised. She is a listening ear while gently challenging your assumptions and habits and this helped me to see situations in a different way. It gave me the clarity to focus my energy on the things that were in my control to change and not worry about the things that weren’t. Warm and caring she inspired me to commit to the goals I set and supported me to achieve them in a way that worked for me. As a result, I’ve made positive lifestyle changes and am better equipped with tools to cope with life’s challenges."PR, Manchester

What I offer

I have experience and a special interest in supporting those experiencing grief and loss, I trained with Cruse bereavement support service and have volunteered with them for over four years. Your loss may relate to the death of a loved one but could also involve the end of a relationship, changes in health or other significant life changes. Whether your loss is recent or from many years ago I offer a compassionate, non judgemental and supportive space where you can be listened to and explore your feelings at your own pace.

As a wellbeing coach and stress illness recovery (SIRPA) practitioner, I use a mind body approach to support recovery from persistent symptoms driven by nervous system dysregulation rather than structural damage. This approach integrates modern neuroscience with an understanding of how stress and emotions can impact physical health.

I can support you in explaining the mind body connection, exploring patterns of stress or unresolved emotions that may be contributing to symptoms and can offer practical supportive tools and strategies. This approach may be helpful if you are experiencing chronic pain, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, migraines, headaches or IBS.

I also support clients with a wide range of other issues including stress, anxiety, depression and low mood, family difficulties, relationship issues and work related issues.

"Michelle was patient, calm and insightful, providing many useful resources and techniques for me to use between sessions and going forward. She was encouraging at every stage and I felt very much supported in uncovering many of the reasons behind my physical difficulties which included back pain and longstanding Chronic Fatigue. I feel that my mindset has completely changed. I no longer feel so overwhelmed by the condition and have much greater confidence in managing pain. I can really recommend Michelle’s approach. She is professional but at the same time empathic and supportive and her commitment to helping me as a client was evident across our sessions." K, Glos, SIRPA coaching client
