About me

My background prior to becoming a therapist was in nursing and, whilst satisfying on many levels, the element that was missing was the time to address some of the fundamental issues of a patient’s psychological and emotional pain and distress during their illness and recovery.

This led me to my exploration in talking therapy and completion of eight years training qualifying as a psychodynamic counsellor.

What I offer

Approaching counselling or therapy for the first time can feel like a daunting and confusing prospect. People from all walks of life come to see me - you may be in crisis or may simply wish to explore an aspect of your experience more deeply. Either way it is a courageous decision to make.

I offer a warm, confidential and non judgemental space where we can explore what ever is on your mind. At the heart of my practice is our working relationship where what you bring to each session can be thought about together in time, leading to a better understanding.

The nature of this work whilst thinking about thoughts and feelings that come up, may link to unprocessed historical events or patterns causing difficulties in life and relationships. Much of this is likely to be unconscious and need time and space to better understand.

Inevitably, engaging in this work has its ups and downs but should bring about new perspectives leading to changes and greater satisfaction in life.

This process unfolds over time and tends to be longer term though I do also offer short term therapy.

It is a good idea to have an initial consultation to get a sense of each other and for you to see if this might be the right therapy for you.

I offer 50 minute sessions that are at the same time and place each week.

I adhere to strict ethical guidelines in accordance with BPA guidance.

My fees are £50 for a 50 minute session.
