About me

I began studying Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1992, seeking a set of life nourishing practices to complement my studies in Buddhism. I was inspired after meeting and receiving ‘traditional’ Tibetan treatments from the Dalai Lama’s former Doctor and fellow Monk, Yeshi Donden, whilst practising in India.

After five years of studying in the UK I became a qualified Shiatsu massage practitioner and Acupuncturist.

I learned Qi Gong exercises with Chris Jarmey in 1992, a well known exponent and successful author. I went on to learn Sun Style Taiji in 1996 from Dave Martin, the leading figure in the UK. By 2003, after years of study and practice, I was invited to teach these forms of Classical Chinese Exercise and have since taught at Stroud and Gloucester Colleges, a local Hospice, through the NHS, in Sheltered Housing, for Mental Health Groups, in ‘Deprived’ Areas and currently I teach a dozen classes locally and offer private tuition, whole day workshops and a weekend Summer Retreat.

I was given permission to teach Meditation from Roy Eugene Davis in the Kriya Yoga Tradition.

What I offer

Acupuncture

Acupuncture stimulates the immune system, promoting circulation to the area, a response for wound healing and pain modulation.

Some people turn to acupuncture to help with a specific condition or symptoms. While other people choose to have acupuncture to help maintain good health, as a preventative measure or to improve their general wellbeing.

I carry out a holistic health assessment and, based on the clinical picture, I design a personal treatment plan for each client.

Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a traditional Chinese massage which focuses on the compassionate power of therapeutic touch. As well as offering us the opportunity to experience profound relaxation for the mind, Shiatsu promotes the release of endorphins for pain relief, it stimulates the lymphatic system and increases our circulation. The action of Shiatsu on opening joints, lengthening tissues through rhythmic pressure helps to improve our range of motion and joint flexibility, it is great for rejuvenating injured and overused muscles and aids in the recovery from strenuous workouts.

For more detail about Shiatsu and how it works, please read my informational sheet.

Qi Gong

This is a system of Classical Chinese Exercise, based on the same medical model used by Acupuncture. It involves a variety of graceful and strengthening postures and empowering gestures, including a wide range of mindfully co-ordinated stretching, bending, flexing and coiling patterns.

These actions are designed to release the build up of tension and resistance, to open joints and lengthen tissues, facilitating the movement of vital substances, stimulating the circulatory systems and certain key acu-points to improve function.
