About me

Welcome, my name is Hannah and I offer individual Body Movement Psychotherapy for adults and young people.

I have 30 years’ body work experience, my background stemming from Dance, Physiotherapy and then qualifying as a Movement Psychotherapy in 2002. My Psychotherapy experience covers working with adults, young people and children (CAMHS) within the NHS, in education and in private practice. I also have been involved in research around persistent medically unexplained symptoms and have worked as a supervisor and lecturer on the MA in Dance Movement Psychotherapy at Goldsmiths University London.

My approach is integrative, and I bring experience from different traditions, ecopsychology perspectives, dance and other creative practices into my work. I aim to work with the whole person in mind, helping people to find the best way to work with their issues, whilst being sensitive to personal spiritual beliefs and many different world views.

What I offer

I currently offer individual short and long term therapy for adults and young people in Bristol, Stroud and online. If you have any questions or wish to book an initial session, then do contact me. This can help us to see if it is the right therapy for you and if it feels right to work together.

Body Movement Psychotherapy

Body Movement Psychotherapy is a form of psychotherapy that can help with both emotional and physical issues. Sometimes words alone cannot fully communicate our feelings and experiences. This type of psychotherapy uses and values the body, movement, symbols and creative processes alongside words to help guide, make meaning and transform personal experiences at a deep level. This is particularly useful in helping those with issues related to traumatic experiences, early life events or physical symptoms that are often hard to understand, talk about or to explain.

My aim is to create a safe, confidential, and supportive environment whereby clients can use therapy at a pace and level that is right for them. Sessions may include the use of verbal and non-verbal elements to help support the connection between different aspects of self, encouraging self-awareness, self- expression and personal growth.

You do not have to have any prior experience of body work or using creative art forms to benefit from this type of psychotherapy.
